HDPE Smooth Geomembrane contains approximately 97.5% polyethylene, 2.2% carbon black and trace amounts of antioxidants and heat stabilisers. It has outstanding chemical resistance, mechanical properties, environmental stress crack resistance, dimensional stability and thermal aging characteristics.
HDPE textured geomembrane is treated with spray roughening process on the surface of smooth geomembrane, which can greatly increase the engineering adaptability of geomembrane. Its mechanical properties are consistent with the HDPE smooth geomembrane and meanwhile it is of an outstanding direct shear friction coefficient.

In addition to the application scope of HDPE smooth geomembrane, the HDPE textured geomembrane is more suitable for various anti-seepage and anti-corrosion projects with certain inclination such as embankment slope and sloping surface etc. or with certain anti-slip and anti-movement requirements.

HDPE Geomembrane Liner for Heap Leach Pads
- The extraction of precious metals from ore using heap leaching is a common method of production. The ore is placed on geomembrane-lined heap leach pads and the ore-laden solution is drained through lined ditches into impoundments for holding prior to extraction. These ditches are subject to intense sunlight, and in many conditions, extreme thermal expansion and contraction.
- The conditions require a UV-stable, low thermal expansion-resistant geomembrane. Additionally, longevity and constructability are important as mining operations are often in rugged environments.
Creating heap leach pads with geosynthetics
- Creating a heap leach on a flat pad, on-off pad or valley pad typically requires only a single composite liner. A composite liner incorporates multiple layers-such as a geosynthetic liner and geotextile-to provide several benefits in a single product. Most heap leach pads will start with the foundation, or subgrade, with a low-permeability layer directly above. The low-permeability and absorption layer will comprise compacted clay (if it can be locally sourced) or a geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) made with bentonite. Directly above the clay/GCL is the geomembrane liner with low permeability for containment. A protection layer is placed above the geomembrane and is made with a geotextile, padding and separating the geomembrane from the heap. Above the geotextile is the mineral drainage layer, which includes the piping system to collect the solution.
- The primary benefit of using geosynthetics over other products is the myriad of ways that geosynthetics can be manufactured to serve different purposes. Additionally, most geosynthetic products will share similar properties including high chemical resistance, flexibility and durability. For example, the high-density polyethylene (HDPE) resin used to create some geomembranes can resist the harsh chemicals required in heap leaching. HDPE's durability is also useful for withstanding the point loads that are typical in heap leaching. And if necessary, the resin can be substituted for an alternative like linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE), which offers improved flexibility and elongation.

HDPE GEOMEMBRANE WELDING & INSTALLATION
-- The surface must be inspected immediately before the liner is placed. Any debris that could damage the liner or prevent an even/smooth deployment must be removed.
-- The deployment of the rolls should be in a manner that will require the least amount of welding.
-- The rolls are placed as pre-determined in the blueprint or design.
-- If the lining is going over a slope it is laid vertically up and down the slope. Additionally, material that is deployed on a slope should be carefully unrolled and not simply unrolled freely downhill. On slopes that are curved, material may require a diagonal cut in order to ensure welds are perpendicular.
-- The installers will take careful precautions to prevent wrinkling
-- Anchor the linings as they are laid. Usually sandbags or tires are used.

1.Textured or Smooth hdpe Geomembrane?
A textured product is either needed or is not. This apparent truism needs to be remembered in many cases in which a product is specified for a project which clearly does not qualify to be designated as textured yet is designated as such, creating a huge confusion about the uncertainty of the client's needs.
If the client does not clarify they require, it is hardly feasible to offer the right solution in conditions comparable to any concurrent company.
2.Is a hdpe Geomembrane with a wider roll better?
There is a technical limit for manufacturing geomembranes. In high density polyethylene (HDPE), this is 7.5 to 8m. Beyond this limit, either the raw material is not an HDPE and is instead a softer material which enables the extrusion-header system of the machine to complete the geomembrane transformation cycle, or the uniform thickness or thermal treatment parameters of the raw material have been seriously compromised. Within these limits and exceeding a minimum width, under which it would be unreasonable to present a product for the Safe Containment application, the roll width is the choice of the manufacturer, usually subject to the presentation format and transport cost optimisation.
There is hardly any difference between the cost of machines for given widths.
Within these limits, it is true that a wider roll relieves installation costs in large projects by a small percentage; however it is always at the expense of a higher cost of handling bulk unit weight of the roll or overruns in the finishing of curves or corners.
3.Differences between LLDPE and HDPE geomembrane?
Linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) and high density polyethylene (HDPE) are raw materials which are similar in terms of composition, but very different in their behaviour, as has already been discussed in previous sections.
HDPE has become a global standard for Safe Containment applications precisely for its unique properties and marketing an LLDPE as an HDPE in these applications is tantamount to offering a substitute product without any benefit to the client. Differentiating them is very simple.
