Spherical shaped storage are used in gas and liquid storage in many industries including midstream, downstream, petrochemical, chemical, waste water, and aerospace. Spheres can store many products such as anhydrous ammonia, LPG, NGL, gasoline, naphtha, butadiene, ethylene, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, argon, LNG, biogas, sewage gas and waste water.
A spherical shape offers uniform stress distribution under internal loading resulting in highly efficient pressurized storage. Sphere storage results in the lowest land space for pressurized storage and offers lower costs for foundations, coatings, accessories, and piping than other options.
The shape of the spherical tank is spherical and ellipsoidal. The vast majority are single-layer spherical shells. When storing liquefied gas at low temperature and low pressure, double spherical shells are used, and thermal insulation materials are filled between the two spherical shells. The most widely used is the single-layer spherical spherical tank. The spherical shell is made of a plurality of spherical petals pressed into a spherical surface and welded together by the orange petal split method, the football split split method or the football orange split hybrid split method. The most common supporting structure of spherical tank is equatorial tangent type, followed by symmetrical type, skirt type, semi-buried type and basin type. The ellipsoid spherical tank is usually used to store liquid hydrocarbons (such as gasoline, etc.) with a saturated vapor pressure slightly higher than atmospheric pressure and strong volatility at room temperature. When the volume is larger, the compound ellipsoid spherical tank should be used.

Why Are Spherical Storage Tanks Prevalent in Oil & Gas Facilities?
Many oil and gas producers prefer spherical tanks to store high-pressure fluids over other simpler tank designs. Why is this? Here are a few of the reasons.
As the sphere is placed in service and is cooled to operating temperature, the sphere surface contracts and the sphere diameter reduces. The insulation system must be designed to accommodate this dimensional change.

The temperature difference between the object and the ambient outside environment is what lead to surface condensation.Thisin combination with moisture ingress through other means from the outside, can have severe adverse effects on the efficiency and safety of your sphere.

Flat bottom tanks are storage structures that present a round cylinder shape and a flat base. These systems can help preserve and store a wide array of substances and can thus be fabricated to specifically meet each substance and business needs. It represent an efficient storage system for a number of substances, including cryogenics and liquefied gases. As more and more businesses and industries are dependent on optimal storage of substances in order to have immediate access to them, flat bottom tanks are increasingly demanded.
