Filtration process
After the sewage enters the drum filter, it is brought to the surface of the filter medium under the action of the rotation of the drum. Due to the pressure difference between the inside and outside of the drum, the liquid part of the sewage enters the inside of the drum through the pores of the filter medium under the pressure difference, while the solid impurities are intercepted by the filter medium on its surface. For example, when treating industrial wastewater containing suspended particles, impurities with particle sizes larger than the pore size of the filter medium will be intercepted.
As the drum continues to rotate, the filtered clean water continuously flows out from the outlet inside the drum and enters the subsequent treatment link or is directly discharged, depending on the specific sewage treatment process.

Solid impurity removal process
As the filtration process proceeds, the solid impurities on the surface of the filter medium will gradually accumulate and increase, resulting in increased filtration resistance. In order to ensure the continuous and effective filtration, these solid impurities need to be removed regularly.
The drum filter is usually equipped with a backwashing device. When the filtration resistance reaches a certain level or after a certain time interval, the backwashing device is activated. There are many ways to backwash, and the most common one is to use high-pressure water to wash the surface of the filter medium from the inside of the drum to the outside to wash off the accumulated solid impurities. These washed-down impurities will be discharged from the sewage outlet of the equipment along with the sewage, thereby completing the cleaning of the filter medium and restoring the normal filtering performance of the filter equipment.
