What is kevlar twisted yarn?
Kevlar twisted yarn has extremely high tensile strength, exceeding 28 grams per denier, which is 5-6 times that of high-quality steel, with a modulus 2-3 times that of steel or fiberglass, toughness twice that of steel, and weight only 1/5 of steel. The strength and toughness of aramid 1414 also make it extremely difficult to cut and process, requiring expensive specialized tools.
Aramid 1414 has a wide range of continuous use temperatures, allowing for long-term normal operation within the range of -196 ºC to 330 ºC. The shrinkage rate at 150 ºC is 0, and it does not decompose or melt at high temperatures of 560 ºC. Its heat resistance is superior to that of aramid 1313, and it has good insulation and corrosion resistance, with a long life cycle, earning it the reputation of "synthetic steel wire".
Mechanical properties of Kevlar twisted yarn
The strength is 3.6Gpa, the elongation modulus is 131Gpa, and the elongation at break is 2.8% -3.5%. It has extremely high strength, with a weight to weight ratio of 5-6 times that of steel wire, a modulus of 2-3 times that of steel wire or fiberglass, and 7 times that of high-strength nylon. It is recognized as one of the world's sewing threads.
