What is Gypsum Boards

There are many types of gypsum boards, such as paper-faced gypsum board, non-paper-faced gypsum board, glass fiber felt-faced gypsum board, decorative gypsum board, and gypsum sound-absorbing board, etc.

Among them, paper-faced gypsum board is widely used and well-known for its high cost-effectiveness. It is a lightweight board made of gypsum slurry as the core and paper as the protective surface on both sides. Paper-faced gypsum board is lightweight, high in strength, fire-resistant, insect-resistant, and easy to process. It is commonly used for interior walls, partition walls, and ceilings. Water-resistant paper-faced gypsum board, which has undergone fireproof treatment, can be used for wall surfaces in rooms with higher humidity, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and shower rooms, as a backing board for tiles, metal sheets, or plastic tile walls.

Gypsum Boards Categories

Paper-faced gypsum boards are generally classified into four main categories:

1. Regular paper-faced gypsum board: This is the most common type used for interior walls, partition walls, and ceilings. It has good lightweight properties and a certain level of fire resistance.

2. Moisture-resistant paper-faced gypsum board: This type of board undergoes moisture-resistant treatment, allowing it to be used in high humidity environments such as bathrooms and kitchens. It can resist moisture and prevent mold growth.

3. Waterproof paper-faced gypsum board: This type of board has excellent waterproof properties, making it commonly used in areas requiring waterproofing, such as shower areas, around washbasins, and kitchen sink areas.

4. Fire-resistant paper-faced gypsum board: This type of board offers higher fire resistance and can be used in areas that require a higher fire rating. It undergoes specialized fireproof treatment, delaying the spread of fire and providing a longer fire resistance time.

These different types of paper-faced gypsum boards have slight differences in material composition and performance. The choice of the appropriate type depends on specific usage requirements.

In terms of material, paper-faced gypsum board can be further divided into two types:

Gypsum core made from desulfurized gypsum: The gypsum core of this type of board is made from desulfurized gypsum, resulting in a fine and smooth texture with few or almost no air pores.

New type of gypsum core with foaming agent: This type of board has a gypsum core that is enhanced with a foaming agent. It contains more air pores, making it lighter in weight, higher in strength, and providing better nail-holding capacity.

Gypsum Boards Metal Profiles

Ceiling:
Gypsum board ceiling profiless are typically made of galvanized steel or cold-rolled steel, offering high strength and durability. They usually have a "C" or "U" shaped cross-section, which provides a stable framework and allows for secure connections with other components.

During the installation of gypsum board ceiling profiles, their positioning is determined and they are fixed to the ceiling. The spacing between the studs can be adjusted as needed to accommodate the size and installation requirements of the gypsum boards. Once the studs are in place, the gypsum boards are attached to the studs using screws or other connectors, forming a smooth ceiling surface.

The use of gypsum board ceiling profiles/channels offers several advantages:
1. Quick installation: Gypsum board ceiling stud systems typically utilize standardized components, allowing for efficient and fast installation.
2. Flexible adjustment: The spacing between the studs can be adjusted to accommodate the size and installation requirements of the gypsum boards.
3. Load-bearing capacity: Gypsum board ceiling studs can support the weight of the gypsum boards and provide a stable support structure.
4. Concealed wiring: Gypsum board ceiling stud systems can be used to hide wiring and cables on the ceiling, preventing them from being exposed directly.

Gypsum board ceiling profiles provide a smooth and visually appealing ceiling surface, and can accommodate the installation of lighting, ventilation, and other equipment on the ceiling.

Drywall:
Partition wall studs are metal components used for constructing partition walls. They are typically made of light steel material and possess a certain level of strength and stability. The main function of partition wall studs is to provide support and framework for securing partition wall panels and creating internal segregated spaces.

Partition wall studs are typically designed with a "C" or "U" shaped cross-sectional profile. These profiles enable the studs to have good load-bearing capacity and stability. The spacing between the studs can be adjusted as needed to accommodate the height and structural requirements of the partition wall.

Partition wall studs can be used in conjunction with other components such as horizontal hangers, vertical columns, and horizontal beams. These components collectively form a sturdy framework for supporting the weight and load of the partition wall structure.

During the installation of a partition wall, the studs are first secured to the floor and ceiling. Then, partition wall panels are installed between the studs and typically fastened using screws or other connectors. Finally, the partition wall panels are trimmed and decorated to complete the construction of the partition wall.

The use of partition wall studs offers the following advantages:
1. Quick installation: Partition wall stud systems often utilize prefabricated components, making the installation process efficient and rapid.
2. Flexible adjustment: The spacing between the studs can be adjusted to accommodate different partition wall heights and structural requirements.
3. Sound insulation: Partition wall stud structures can provide a certain level of sound isolation, helping reduce sound transmission.
4. High customizability: Partition wall stud systems can be customized to meet specific design requirements, catering to different spatial layouts and functional needs.

Partition wall studs and gypsum boards serve purposes such as space division, sound insulation, concealed piping and cable pathways, and more.

Both above mentiond gypsum boards and metal profiles are widely used in various construction projects such as commercial buildings, offices, residences, and public spaces, etc.
