Description:
Freestanding safety railing is one of the simplest forms of rooftop fall protection. Unlike horizontal lifelines or single point anchors, which require worker tie-off, a rooftop guardrail system requires very little of its user.  The people don't need to wear a harness, connect to an anchor point, or receive training in the safe use of the system.  That said, you'll need to do some planning prior to installing freestanding rooftop safety railing systems to ensure worker safety and OSHA compliance.  This post serves as a guide to determining base plate and railing section requirements when installing the freestanding guardrail.



Specification:
EN ISO14122-3: 2018 requirements:
7.1.3  The minimum height of the guard-rail shall be 1 100 mm. The height of the handrail shall be ≤1 100 mm. The handrail shall be parallel to the walking line.
7.1.4  The guard-rail shall include at least one intermediate knee rail or any other equivalent protection. The clear space between the handrail and the knee rail, as well as between the knee rail and the toe-plate, shall not exceed 500 mm. 
7.1.5  When vertical uprights are used instead of a knee rail, the clear horizontal distance between those uprights shall be 180 mm maximum. 
7.1.6  A toe-plate with a minimum upstand of 100 mm shall be placed 12 mm maximum from the walking level and the edge of the platform,  as well as stair landings. If there is a gap between the toe-plates of adjacent guard rail segments, this gap shall be not more than 20 mm.
7.1.7  The distance between the axes of the stanchions is preferred to be limited to 1 500 mm.If this distance is exceeded, specific attention shall be paid to the stanchion anchoring strength and the fixing devices. 

Counterweight:
The 25kg counterweight is designed to be attached to each of the main uprights,  the shell is made of high quality PE material and filled with concrete which provides the necessary counterbalance weight to prevent the system from being moved.

Optional item- Toeboard
If there is no parapet at the fall edge or the height of a parapet of less than 100mm, a teoboard  can be affixed to the base of the guardrail. The toeboard can prevent small objects or person slip off from the edge.



Installation Steps:

1. Put counterweight onto the base module then fix it by tapping screws and shims.
2. Insert upright module into base then fix it by set screws.
3. Get handrail and kneerail onto tube junctions then fix them by set screws.
