Scope of application
Our Single-Use Sterile Urethral Catheter Tray with Latex Foley Catheter is meticulously engineered for use in medical institutions, designed for efficient catheterization, accurate urine collection, and precise patient sampling.
Instruction for Use
- Communicate thoroughly with patients or their families about the purpose, procedure, potential discomforts, alleviation methods, possible complications, and required post-catheterization nursing support.
- Inspect the catheter's specifications, verify the integrity of the package, and ensure the Foley catheter balloon is undamaged.
- Instruct the patient to take deep breaths during intubation to ease the process.
- Disinfect the patient's perineum meticulously to maintain sterility.
- Securely connect the Foley catheter to the urine bag and open the catheter for use.
- Choose an appropriate lubricant and apply generously to the Foley catheter for smooth insertion.
- Gently insert the catheter until urine flow is observed, then advance an additional 5cm-6cm for proper placement.
- Inflate the balloon with a sterile water volume suitable for the patient, then gently pull the catheter outward until resistance is felt to ensure secure positioning.
- For catheter removal, first drain the balloon's fluid using a syringe. Avoid forceful drainage to prevent balloon folding. Gently extract the catheter.
Contraindication
- Use with caution in patients allergic to natural rubber.
- Contraindicated for individuals with severe urethritis, significant urethral stricture, acute prostatitis, or urethral trauma from blunt or penetrating injuries.
Precautions, Warnings, and Indicative Notes
- This product is intended for single use only. Thoroughly read the manual before use and do not use beyond the expiration date.
- Operation and application of this product are strictly limited to medical professionals.
- The product is sterilized using ethylene oxide. Do not use if the packaging is compromised.
- Avoid using lubricants that contain petroleum bases as they can compromise product integrity.
- Select an appropriately sized Foley catheter. A smaller size is recommended for children or patients with urethral stricture.
- Insert the catheter gently to avoid damaging the urethral mucosa. Avoid deep or shallow insertions and refrain from repetitive movements.
- Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques. Only sterile water should be used for balloon inflation, not exceeding the specified capacity. Inflate gradually.
- For overfilled bladders or extremely weak patients, urinate slowly, limiting the initial volume to 1000mL to prevent sudden decompression and potential bleeding or fainting.
- For residual urine measurement, instruct the patient to urinate before catheterization. Normal residual urine volume should be 5-10mL; if exceeding 100mL, catheterize accordingly.
- Regularly check the Foley catheter's fixation during indwelling. Follow clinical nursing guidelines for replacement and allow the urethra to relax before reinsertion if required.
- If resistance is encountered during catheter removal, do not pull forcefully to prevent urethral damage.
- When removing the Foley catheter, carefully insert an empty syringe into the valve as per the water injection method to allow the water to drain naturally. Alternatively, cut the piston to facilitate natural drainage before removal. Do not pull out forcefully if you encounter resistance, as this may cause severe damage to the urethra.
- In cases where the sterile water in the balloon cannot be discharged and alternative measures fail, promptly contact the manufacturer for guidance. It is advisable to use a guide wire or remove the sterile water through perineal puncture under ultrasound supervision.
- For patients exhibiting emotional instability or uncontrollable behavior, enhanced nursing care is crucial. A single lumen Foley catheter is recommended. If necessary, implement appropriate restraints to prevent patients from self-removal of the catheter, which could lead to significant organic damage.
Product safe disposal
Used Urethral Catheter Tray (Latex) should be disposed of in a sanitary container to prevent potential contamination and cross-infection.
Storage
Store in a dry, well-ventilated, and cool place. Avoid exposure to harmful substances to ensure product integrity.
