Description:
Metal Iridium is a chemical element with the chemical symbol Ir and atomic number 77. Silvery white metal, hard and brittle. During hot processing, as long as it is not annealed, it can be ductile and processed into filaments and sheets; once annealed, it loses its ductility and becomes hard and brittle. Density is about 22.56 grams/cubic centimeter. The melting point is 2410±40ºC and the boiling point is 4130ºC. Face-centered cubic crystal.
Applications of Iridium: Used as pen tip materials, needles, balance blades, compass holders, electrical contacts, etc. Fabrication of porous spinnerets. As alloy additives, laser parts, spark plug materials and other high temperature resistant raw materials

Application:
Iridium metal, as well as iridium-platinum alloys and osmium-iridium alloys, have very low losses and can be used to make porous spinnerets. Iridium alloy resists arc erosion, making it an ideal material for spark plug electrical contacts.
