The entire anti-seepage system consists of a cushion layer, anti-seepage layer, transition layer, and protective layer.
The soil should be solid to avoid uneven settlement and cracks. Grass and tree roots within the anti-seepage range should be removed, and small particle sized sand or clay should be laid as a protective layer on the contact surface with the membrane.
When laying, the geotextile should not be pulled too tightly. It is better for the parts buried in the soil at both ends to form a ripple shape, especially when anchoring with rigid materials, a certain amount of expansion and contraction should be left.
During construction, it is advisable to avoid stones and heavy objects directly hitting the geotextile membrane. It is best to lay the membrane and cover the protective layer while constructing.


Overlap. The overlap width should not be less than 15cm;
Hot welding. It is advisable to use slightly thicker geotextile membrane substrate, with a weld seam overlap width of no less than 5 cm (adhesive bonding is not recommended, as prolonged water immersion can easily open the adhesive and have poor anti-seepage effect). Based on years of practice, it has been proven that the thickness of the geomembrane is not less than 0.25 mm. If it is too thin, it may produce pores and is prone to damage during construction, reducing the anti-seepage effect.
During the construction of geotextile membranes, special attention should be paid to ensuring that the laying is not too tight, wrinkling is not allowed, and the splicing is firm. We must strictly follow the technical specifications for construction, and ensure the quality of preparation, laying, splicing, inspection, and backfilling. For the laid geomembrane, the edge joints must be free of dirt, moisture, dust, etc.
