PRODUCT INFORMATION
Calcium formate, the calcium salt of formic acid, is synthesized via the reaction of carbon monoxide and calcium hydroxide, or by formaldehyde interacting with a calcium compound in an aqueous solution. This versatile compound finds its use as an aggregate in cementitious building materials and an additive in processing oil emulsions.
Properties:Slightly hygroscopic with a mildly bitter flavor. It is neutral, non-toxic, and water-soluble. Its aqueous solution remains neutral. Notably, the solubility of calcium formate remains relatively stable with temperature changes, being 16g/100g water at 0ºC and 18.4g/100g water at 100ºC.
Construction/ Industrial Grade Calcium Formate
In construction, it serves as a rapid cement solidification agent, lubricant, and early-strength agent for building mortar and various concretes. It accelerates cement hardening, reducing setting times. Particularly valuable in winter, calcium formate prevents delays due to low temperatures.
