Tee nuts, also known as blind nuts, from ITA Fasteners are used for soft material fastening like securing timber and composite materials. These nuts are internally threaded and come with prong-like projections which allow the nut to sit well with the soft materials. Once it is fastened into place, it is tough to remove and requires special tools to do so. Due to its serrations, they provide excellent grip on whatever surface they are used.
It is crucial to ensure that these nuts are used with dimensionally accurate screws as any mismatch could lead to structural failures. To install the nut in place, first, create a hole by using a drill bit which is wider than the barrel of the nut. Then push the projections on to the material to let it sit in its place. Now an externally threaded bolt can be fit into the nut. It is available in stainless steel, carbon steel, and alloy steel to bear more wear and tear while also making it more corrosion resistant.
