Copper-clad steel strand wire is a bimetallic conductor made of a certain number of copper-clad steel single wires, combining the mechanical properties of steel with the high conductivity of copper corrosion resistance. Made by electroplating process, the copper-plated layer and steel are closely bonded in molecular form to produce bimetallic materials with the advantages of both metals. Copper steel conductors have comparable performance to bare copper in grounding applications and, due to their longer service life, have higher performance than galvanized steel in lightning protection.
