Product Description

Seamless circular steel tubes for mechanical and general engineering purposes

Our specialized process for seamless tubing manufacturing begins with either an extruded hollow tube or a solid bar drilled to our exacting specifications. The material is then reduced in size a number of times through various cold working techniques until it reaches the specific size, tolerances, and temper required by our customer. After each cold working cycle the tubes are cut, cleaned and heat treated in preparation for the next cold working step.

Supplier quality assurance and development

We manage and control our list of suppliers according to the needs of our customers and regulatory requirements through a supplier QA and development program. Its goals are to:
  1. Increase regular two-way communication between SHUNFU and its customer
  2. Understand customer and their capabilities
  3. Build mutually beneficial long-term relationships with suppliers
  4. Identify, prevent and mitigate risks affecting the supply chain
  5. Rationalize our list based on supplier performance data
  6. Identify supplier improvement opportunities
  7. Integrate key customer into product development projects
  8. Uncover hidden costs and cost drivers
  9. Improve our competitiveness by strengthening our part of the end customer value chain

Description

Tubing used for mechanical and light gauge structural applications. Mechanical tube is produced to meet specific end use requirements, specifications, tolerances and chemistries. This allows for more specific property uniformity throughout the tube compared to standard pipe or tube. While Mechanical tube can be produced to standard specifications when requested, it is often produced to typical properties that focus mainly on the yield strength for a precise size and wall thickness. In some applications with severe forming, yield strength may not even be specified and the mechanical tube is produced to be fit for use. Mechanical tubing encompasses a wide range of both structural and non-structural applications.

Dimensions and Tolerances

T Wall thickness: 2.3-50mm (±1%)
D Outside diameter:26.9-850mm (±12,5%)
Length The tubes shall be delivered in random lengths / Exact lengths

Appearance

1 The tube shall be free from external and internal surface defects that can be established by visual inspection.
2 The internal and external surface finish of the tubes shall be typical of the manufacturing process and, where applicable, the heat treatment employed. The finish and surface condition shall be such that any surface imperfections requiring dressing can be identified.
3 It shall only be permissible to remove surface imperfections, by grinding or machining, provided that, after so doing the tube thickness in the dressed area is not less than the specified minimum wall thickness. All dressed areas shall blend smoothly into the contour of the tube.
4 Surface imperfections which encroach on the minimum wall thickness shall be considered defects and tubes containing these shall be deemed not to conform to this Part of this European Standard.

Straightness

The deviation from straightness of tubes with an outside diameter D equal to or greater than 33,7 mm shall not exceed 0,0015 L (L = Length of the tube). The deviation from straightness, for tubes with D less than 33,7 mm, is not specified.

End preparation

Tubes shall be delivered with square cut ends. The ends shall be free from excessive burrs.

Marking

Example: X-EN 10297-1 - C15R+FP - Y - Z
X is the manufacturers name or trademark
Y is the mark of inspection representative
Z is the identification number (e.g. order or item number)

Protection

Tubes shall be specially protected for transit and storage.
