Definition of calendering effect
In the process of calendering, when the material passes through the gap of the calendering roller, it will be subjected to the simultaneous action of shear force and tensile stress, and the polymer will be oriented along the calendering direction, so that the product has anisotropic characteristics in physics and mechanics.
The consequences of the calendering effect
The calendering effect causes differences in the properties of the products, one of which is that the longitudinal tensile strength (along the calendering direction) of the calendering film (sheet) is greater than the transverse tensile strength, so that the transverse elongation at break is greater than the longitudinal. When the use temperature change is too large, the size in each direction will change, the longitudinal will shrink, and the more serious is the rupture, then the horizontal and thickness direction of expansion. This is the product in the physical and mechanical anisotropy.
