Polyethylene (PE) mesh
Polyethylene (PE) or polythene is the most standard plastic around. It's used for e.g. plastic bags, plastic films, geo-membranes, and containers including bottles. Compared to polypropylene, polyethylene is mesh more soft and flexible. Polyethylene mesh is also more robust in cold weather circumstances and more resistant to fracturing. The soft, cushion traits of polyethylene make it ideal for protective purposes.

Mesh count (n/cm), (n/in)
The mesh count stands for the number of openings per inch.
Mesh opening (μm)
The mesh opening w is the distance between two adjacent warp or weft thread.
Thread diameter (μm)
The thread diameter is measured on the thread before weaving.
Open area (%)
The percentage of the open are is the sum of all mesh openings as percentage of the total fabric area
- Chemical stability: Polyethylene filter mesh is highly resistant to both acidic and basic environments, making it particularly valuable in chemical and pharmaceutical industries as well as applications involving solvents.
- Economical alternative: It serves as a cost-effective option compared to more expensive materials like PTFE (Teflon) for filtration purposes.
- Wide range of mesh openings: Polyethylene filter screens are available with mesh openings ranging from 25 microns up to 4000 microns, providing versatility for different filtration needs.
- Durability: Like other synthetic polymer meshes, polyethylene filter mesh is known for its strength and durability, making it suitable for long-term use in various applications.
- Resistance to corrosion: Polyethylene, being a synthetic polymer, offers good resistance to corrosion, which is beneficial in many industrial and chemical processes.
- Lightweight: The lightweight nature of polyethylene mesh makes it easy to handle and install in various filtration systems. Easy cleaning: Synthetic polymer meshes like polyethylene are generally easy to clean, which is important for maintaining filtration efficiency over time.
