Product Description
Product Description

Cochineal Extract is a natural coloring that provides a characteristic pink, red or purple hue while demonstrating excellent heat and light stability.Cochineal insects are soft-bodied, flat, oval-shaped scale insects, native to tropical and subtropical South America and Mexico. They live on cacti, feeding on the plant's moisture and nutrients.Carminic acid is a substance found in high concentration in cochineal insects. It is extracted from the insect's body and eggs and is mixed with aluminum or calcium salts to make carmine dye (also known as cochineal).
The words Cochineal, Cochineal Extract, Carmine, Crimson Lake, Natural Red 4, C.I. 75470, E120, and even some 'natural colorings' refer to a dye called 'carminic acid', which is primarily used as a food coloring and in cosmetic.

Detailed Photos

1. Cochineal Carmine is an excellent natural food red pigment. It shows bright purplish red in weak acid or neutral environment, but its color changes under alkaline conditions. The maximum absorption of pigment solution at the pH value of 5.7 occurred at 494 nm.

2. The pigment had good storage stability and thermal stability, but poor light stability. After 24 hours of direct sunlight, the pigment retention rate was only 18.4%. In addition, the pigment has weak oxidation resistance and is greatly affected by metal ion Fe3 +. But the reducing substance can protect the color of pigment.

3. Cochineal Carmine is stable to most food additives and has a wide range of application.
