What's grape seed extract?
Grape seed extract ( GSE ) is an industrial derivative of grape seeds. It is rich in antioxidants and oligomeric proanthocyanidin complexes and has been linked to a wide range of possible health benefits.
Grape seed extract is a water-soluble flavonoid or polyphenol with complex powerful antioxidant properties.
As an antioxidant, grape seed is thought to possibly support the following: a healthy cardiovascular system, a healthy immune response, a healthy vascular system, healthy fluid balance and healthy vision. Research shows that antioxidants like grape seed and green tea are generally 10-100 times more powerful than common nutrient antioxidants such as vitamins C and E.
What is it Made Of?
Vitamin E, flavonoids, linoleic acid, and OPCs are highly concentrated in grape seeds. Lower concentrations of these compounds are also available in the skin of the grape, as well as grape juice and wine. Resveratrol is another compoud in grapes and grape skins that is related to OPCs. Resveratrol has become very popular as an antioxidant and is being studied in connection with a variety of diseases.
