physical propert
A pale yellow colorless clear transparent liquid. There is a slight odor. The relative density (d25/4) is 0.922. Freezing point -75 ºC, melting point -67.8 ° C, boiling point 214 ° C (0.67KPa), flash point (open cup) 196 ° C, refractive index (n20D) 1.4474, viscosity (20 ° C) 13.7mPa S. Insoluble in water, but highly volatile, with poor water resistance, migration resistance, and electrical insulation. Soluble in organic solvents such asmethanoethanol, ether, acetic acid, chlorofrm, ethylacetate, mineral oil, and vegetable oil. Slightly soluble in ethylene glycol.
purpose
This product is a cold resistant plasticizer. High plasticizing efficiency, minimal discoloration upon heating, and possessing certain photo thermal stability and water resistance. Can endow products with good low tenderness, softness, and light resistance. As an excellent cold resistant plasticizer for polyvinyl chloride, this product endows the product with excellent low tenderness and softness. In the plastisol, the initial viscosity is low and the viscosity stability is good. Often used in conjunction with main plasticizers such as DOP for cold resistant agricultural films, wires, sheets, synthetic leather, outdoor water pipes, and packaging films for frozen foods. It can also be used as a low-temperature plasticizer for many synthetic rubbers and plasticizers for resins such as nitrocellulosand ethyl cellulose. Used as a gas chromatography stationary phase in laboratory work.
Production method
Adipic acid and industrial octanol (chemical name 2-ethylhexanol) undergo direct esterification reaction in the presence of a catalyst to obtain crude products, which are then processed into high-quality products through neutralization, water washing, gas extraction, pressure filtration and other processes. High quality products can be obtained through molecular distillation or vacuum distillation. The content of di (2-ethylhexyl) adipate in industrial products is ≥ 99%. Raw material consumption (kg/t) of 4152-ethylhexanol adipate 750.
toxicity
This product has low toxicity. Toxicity coefficient T=500. This product is licensed for use in food packaging materials in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, and Japan. The toxicity of di (2-ethylhexyl) adipate is very low, with a lethal dose of approximately 500000 mg/kg for humans and an oral LD50 of 3000-6000 mg/kg for rats. The irritation to the skin and eyes is also minimal.
