Instruction for Use
The following is only a suggestion. The operation should be performed following currently accepted medical techniques.
1. Remove manometer and clamp adaptor from the pouch. Snap the manometer to the 2.54 cm diameter pole (fig.1). If the pole is
1.91 cm in diameter, snap the clamp adapter to the pole prior to attaching the manometer (fig.2). The manometer can be hooked to a
fixture where applicable. (fig.3).
2. Adjust the manometer height so the zero mark is level with patient's atrium (midaxillary line) (fig.4). If the manometer is not easy to
adjust, adjust the white marker at the same level with patient's atrium.
4. Remove the cap on the stopcock, connect the IV set to the stopcock, turn the stopcock to IV set. Slowly open the IV flow control
clamp to fill the manometer to within 3 cm to the top of tube. Close the flow control clamp.(fig.5).
5. Turn the stopcock 90° clockwise, Open the IV flow control clamp and expel any air in the extension tube. Close the flow control
clamp. Connect the extension tube to the IV catheter (fig.6).
6. Adjust the IV flow control clamp to set the desired infusion rate.
7. For intermittent CVP monitoring, turn the stopcock 90° clockwise, and read the fluid level (the place of the red marker) when equilibrium
is reach. (fig.7).
8. After reading, turn the stopcock 90° counter-clockwise so that the flow is to the patient. (fig.6).
9. For continuous CVP monitoring, turn the stopcock one half turn, so that all three ports are open. (fig.8).
10. After use, disconnect the CVP manometer from IV catheter and IV set, take the CVP manometer from the pole and discard.
Caution:
1. The inside lumen of the whole circuit must be sterile.
2. Before using, check that the IV catheter is not kinked or blocked
3. Don't overfill the monitoring tube.
4. A constant-slow rate of flow is very important for continuous CVP monitoring.
5. The read for continuous CVP monitoring is just for reference.
6. When the zero mark is not level with patient's atrium, the value of CVP shall consider the value of white marker.
