What is Lactobacillus rhamnosus?
LGG is very resistant to gastric acid and bile, and can enter the human intestine alive, while most other probiotics have died due to the effects of gastric acid and bile before entering the intestine. For example, the number of live bacteria of Lactobacillus bulgaricus in ordinary yogurt at pH 3.0 drops to about 5% of the original after half an hour, and to about 0.5% of the original after 1 hour. For Bifidobacterium, 30ºC and pH 4.0 have a greater impact on its survival. The number of live bacteria decreases by more than 70% to 90% after 2 hours, and decays faster at pH 2.0. The situation of Lactobacillus acidophilus is similar to that of Bifidobacterium. LGG can colonize in the human body for up to two weeks, and can effectively improve and adjust the gastrointestinal flora of the human body, which is very beneficial to human health. Whether or not to colonize in the human body will have a great impact on the physiological effect of a probiotic, while most other probiotics cannot colonize in the human body.
1. Regulate intestinal flora
After LGG colonizes and reproduces in the human intestinal environment, it only attaches to the host's intestinal epithelial cells and can become a biological barrier of the intestinal mucosa, thereby improving the host's intestinal mucosal barrier capacity. Moreover, with the help of LGG, the structure and function of the microecological community in the host's intestine can be regulated and balanced, thereby achieving the purpose of improving the function of the host's digestive system. Related studies have shown that the adhesion rate of LGG to adults is significantly higher than that of children, mainly because the intestinal environment of adults is more mature and suitable for LGG adhesion.
2. Enhance the body's immunity
The human immune system can be divided into innate and adaptive immune systems. The innate immune system is mainly undertaken by macrophages, white blood cells, etc. If the innate immune system is dysfunctional, the adaptive immune system will function. The two work together to complete the immunity of the human body. Once the host suffers trauma and infection, it will cause immune system dysfunction.
3. Prevention and treatment of diarrhea
LGG can be used to prevent and treat diarrhea. Relevant studies have shown that LGG bacteria were detected in the feces of 29 infants who took LGG preparations and ordinary cow's milk orally. This shows that after taking LGG, the host uses LGG to regulate the intestinal flora, and the treatment effect of diarrhea in infants taking LGG preparations is better than that of taking ordinary cow's milk.
