Product Description

Vitamin K2 is a fat-soluble vitamin that belongs to the vitamin K family. It is a group of compounds containing 2-methyl-1, 4-naphthoquinone structure, according to the length of the side chain can be divided into multiple subtypes, such as MK-4, MK-7 and so on. Among them, MK-4 mainly exists in animal products, and MK-7 mainly comes from fermented foods.

Vitamin K2 is part of the Vitamin K family,a group of fat-soluble vitamins.(That means they are stored in the gastrointestinal tract and delivered to body in fat globules call chylomicrons.)You have probably heard of Vitamin K,which is crucial for the production of proteins that we need for coagulation,or blood clotting.Without Vitamin K,we would not stop bleeding. That connection was discovered in 1929,and it earned Henrik Dam and Edward Doisy the Nobel Prize in 1943.
Vitamin K is split into two groups:Vitamin K1 and Vitamin K2.The difference lies on a Molecular level.Vitamin K1 has one molecules and known as menaquinone.

Bone health
Vitamin K2 plays a key role in bone metabolism. It is able to activate osteocalcin, a protein produced by osteoblasts, which in its active form can bind to calcium and promote calcium deposition in bones
Cardiovascular health
Vitamin K2 prevents calcification of blood vessels. It inhibits calcium deposition in the smooth muscle cells of blood vessels, allowing calcium to be deposited in normal areas such as bones and teeth, rather than on the walls of blood vessels. Blood vessel calcification is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, and vitamin K2 helps maintain the elasticity and normal function of blood vessels in this way.
