High finned tubes are also called extruded tubes. The finning is achieved by extruding the fin from the tube.

This method of construction is very different from cutting grooves onto the tube as is often done by people who are on the lookout for a shortcut or who don't know any better.

A High fin tube is formed by passing a tube through a set of rollers that form the fins from the parent material of the tube by making it flow in the desired way.

High finned tubes basically consist of a metal tube, surrounded by an aluminum strip or sometimes copper strip. This strip can be applied in different ways. A distinction is made, among others, between a type L, a type KL, a type LL, a type G (= embedded) or a type extruded. With extruded finning the fins are produced our of an aluminium tube instead of aluminium strip. The metal tube can be made of different types of metal, depending on the intended application of the high finned tubes. Within a heat exchanger, the hot medium runs through the finned tubes and heats the tube and the aluminium fins. The metal tube heats up, after which it transfers its heat to the aluminum fins. These fins then ensure that the heat is transferred into the ambient air.

High Frequency Welded Fin Tube (Continuously Welded Spiral Fin Tube)
 
The fins are manufactured by Spirally Winding the fin around the Base Tube and Pipe. During the winding the fin is Continuously Welded by High Frequency welding giving the Most robust bond between the the Fin and the Tube.
 
This type of Fin Tube is used specifically where the application involves a lot of Mechanical Stresses like continuous vibrations etc.
 
The welding bond between the Tube and The Fin also ensures that almost perfect heat Transfer Efficiency is achieved. Also it can give the highest operating temperature ranges.
 
These Fin Tubes find application in RADIATORS, AIR PREHEATERS, WASTE HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEMS, & BOILER FIN TUBES etc and are preferred in Industries like Power Plants, Chemical Industries, Steel Plants, and Chiller Plants etc.
 
 
Mechanical Resistance: Excellent (Hence can be frequently cleaned with high pressure jets unlike other fin tubes. Thereby reducing down time and increasing overall life)
 
Corrosion Protection: Moderate

The steel fin, that may be solid or serrated, is helically wound and continuously welded to the tube by high frequency electric resistance welding. This produces an homogeneous, clean and continuous fin-totube bond with no additional weld material, for a very efficient heat flow and resistance to corrosion.
 
Tube bending:
Our finning machines are equipped with online single or duplex cold bending equipment that can manipulate both ends of tubes in a single operation, thus ensuring exact alignment of the ends. Our bending machines are capable of bending both bare or finned tubes with diameters from 31 mm to 76 mm.
 
Corrosion protection:
If required, the external surfaces of finned tubes can be treated with a protective coating. Our engineers are always ready to assist you with design considerations to meet your specific product needs.

Tension wound finned tubes are formed by winding a strip made of aluminium or copper around the tube under tension. The strip winding technology provides different types of fins: L-Fin, LL-Fin, KL-Fin.
 
 
Embedded fins (G-Fins) are made by winding aluminium or copper strip into a helical groove machined on the outer surface of the tube.
Tension wound finned tubes, embedded finned tubes and extruded finned tubes are main devices for air coolers and the common application fields are:

EXTRUDED FIN TUBE (BIMETALLIC FIN TUBE)
EXTRUDED FINNED TUBE----This fin type is formed from a bi-metallic tube consisting of an aluminium outer tube and an inner tube of almost any material.

The Extruded Fin Tube also known as Bimetallic Fin Tube is one of the most preferred finning processes for various applications.
 
The fins are manufactured by Extruding the Fins on the Aluminum Muff Tube which is made to Fit with close tolerance over the Base Tube.
 
The Extrusion takes place on a Continuous Fin Extruder with Three Tooling rolls and extrusion takes place at high pressures in the range of 1200 psi. Because of the cold working process the Bond between the Tube and fin is flawless and hence gives excellent Heat Transfer Efficiency. At the same time the mechanical strength of the fins is also enhanced drastically.
 
These Fin Tubes find application in AIR FIN COOLERS, DRIERS, RADIATORS etc and are preferred in Industries like Food and Agriculture, Power Plants, Chemical Industries, Steel Plants, and Chiller Plants etc.
