Step drill bits are work well in drilling sheet metal up to 4mm thickness. Step drill bits are
designed to enlarge a hole as the bit drills through the sheet metal. Each step on the
bit is larger in diameter than the step before. Smaller step drill bits are one-step starting
and no pilot drill bit is required to start the hole.
Can a step drill bit used for wood?Step drills are ideally suited for cutting wood up to 4 mm. The production of step drills by using the CBN process enables measuring and shear cutting edges due to the higher hardness during the grinding process. The material structure is cut through smoothly by the much harder abrasive material.
