Helical Gears are required to be cut at a particular angle to the face of the Gear. Two touching Helical Gears need to have equal helix angle but contrasting hand.
This helps them to run smoothly and fluently and also prevents noise pollution. They can also be used to mesh two shafts which are not parallel with each other and between two perpendicular shafts.
