Product Description

Gate valve is generally used to completely shut off fluid flow or, in the fully open position, provide full flow in a pipeline. Thus it is used either in the fully closed or fully open positions. A gate valve consists of a valve body, seat and disc, a spindle, gland, and a wheel for operating the valve.
A gate valve can be defined as a type of valve that uses a gate or wedge-type disk, and the disk moves perpendicular to flow to start or stop the fluid flow in piping.
A gate valve is the most common type of valve used in any process plant. It is a linear motion valve used to start or stop fluid flow.
When the gate valve is fully open, the disk of a gate valve is completely removed from the flow. Therefore virtually no resistance to flow. Due to this, very little pressure drops when fluid passes through a gate valve.
360° surface contact is required between the disk and seats when the valve is fully closed to achieve proper sealing.
Gate valves should not be used for regulation or throttling of flow because accurate control is not possible. The high velocity of the flow in the partially open valve may cause erosion of the disc and seating surfaces and also creates vibration and noise.

Low torque operation
Rubber encapsulated wedge
Clockwise closing direction
Fusion bonded epoxy coated inside and outside
Gate valve provides good shutoff
Pressure drop during operation is very less
Most of the gate valves can be used as bi-directional
They are suitable for high-pressure and temperature applications and require less maintenance

Gate valves are widely used for all types of applications and are suitable for both above-ground and underground installation. Not least for underground installations it is paramount to choose the right type of valve to avoid high replacement costs.
Gate valves are designed for fully open or fully closed service. They are installed in pipelines as isolating valves and should not be used as control or regulating valves. Operation of a gate valve is performed doing an either clockwise to close (CTC) or clockwise to open (CTO) rotating motion of the stem. When operating the valve stem, the gate moves up- or downwards on the threaded part of the stem.

A gate valve's vital components are the body, gate, seat, stem, bonnet, and actuator. Gate valves may have flanged ends drilled in accordance with pipeline-compatible flange dimensions requirements. Cast iron, cast carbon steel, ductile iron, gunmetal, stainless steel, alloy steels, and forged steels are common materials for gate valves. In the following, each part of the gate valve that is mentioned above is fully described.
