5.Installation Guide for Gabion Mesh
1. Site Preparation:
Clear the area of debris, vegetation, and unstable soil.
Level the ground and compact the base for stability.
For erosion control on slopes, consider terracing or stepped designs to reduce water velocity.
2. Assembling Gabion Cages:
Unfold the mesh panels and connect them using spiral binders or lacing wire.
Reinforce corners and edges for structural integrity.
Place the assembled cages in position, ensuring proper alignment.
3. Filling the Gabions:
Use durable, well-drained fill materials (e.g., river rocks, granite, or recycled concrete).
For stability, place larger stones at the edges and finer material in the center.
Fill in layers, compacting as you go to minimize voids and prevent bulging.
4. Securing & Closing:
Once filled, fold and secure the top lids tightly with wire or clips.
For multi-tiered structures, stagger seams to enhance strength.
5. Vegetation Integration (Optional):
Plant vines or grasses between stones to improve aesthetics and reinforce erosion control.
