Emulsified asphalt equipment is a special equipment used to produce emulsified asphalt. Its characteristic is that under the action of emulsifier, the asphalt is broken into tiny particles by mechanical force and evenly dispersed in water to form a stable emulsion, namely emulsified asphalt. Emulsified asphalt is mainly used as a permeable layer, bonding layer and surface binder in highway and urban road projects, and is also suitable for the preparation of waterproof coatings and waterproof membranes in the construction industry.
How Does it Work?
First, solid asphalt is loaded into the asphalt storage tank.Inside the tank, heating devices, such as coils or heaters, are used to raise the temperature of the asphalt.
While the asphalt is being heated, an emulsifier solution is prepared separately. The emulsifier is dissolved in water in a mixing tank.
Next, the melted asphalt and the emulsifier solution are simultaneously fed into a colloid mill.As a result of the mixing in the colloid mill, the asphalt droplets are surrounded by the emulsifier molecules. The emulsifier acts as a stabilizer, preventing the asphalt droplets from coalescing. This forms a stable emulsion of asphalt in water, which is the emulsified asphalt.
After passing tests, the emulsified asphalt considered suitable for use in various applications, such as road construction and maintenance.
