Product Description

Extracorporeal Shockwave Machine Pneumatic Ballistic Shockwave Therapy

What is a shock wave?

A shock wave is a pressure wave (a type of sound wave) generated in a gas, solid, or liquid that exceeds the speed of sound. The pressure suddenly rises to the maximum pressure, and then negative pressure (internal pressure is lower than the external pressure) occurs for a short time. It is characterized by being able to give a great force momentarily.

The extracorporeal shock wave pain treatment device is a "new medical device" sold under the approval and permission of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, which is also covered by insurance for intractable "plantar aponeuritis". It is a new treatment method in the orthopedic field, which can be expected to have an analgesic effect by irradiating the affected part (plantar aponeuritis, tennis elbow, golf elbow, jumper knee, etc.).

What is SmartWave BS-SWT5000?

SmartWave BS-SWT5000 adopts extracorporal shockwave therapy (ESWT), which is a method for the treatment of superficial orthopedic disorders developed over the past 20 years. The extreme method of using bundled sound waves with high intensity was selected because the mechanical/acoustic waves of force can be focused at a defined point with a parabolic reflector to ensure that stress limits are not exceeded in the remaining tissue.

With different tips, the BS-SWT5000 shockwave therapy system can cover most typical applications includesEpicondylitis, Tendonitis, Biceps Tendonitis, Achilles Tendonitis, Lower Back Pain of muscular origin, Trigger Points, Plantar Fascitis, and aesthetic applications as Cellulite therapy, Stretchmark elimination, Skin tightening and body reshaping. It is widely installed for treatment target which covers: rehabilitation medicine, orthopedics, sport medicine, medical cosmetology, pain treatment (chronic/acute), dermatology, geriatrics, acupuncture (include Chinese traditional medical), etc.

The following indications are also can be treated with acoustic wave shock wave therapy equipment BS-SWT5000:

Heel Pain coursed by plantar fasciitis is a condition we commonly treat at clinic.

The plantar fascia is a band of connective tissue that runs from the base of the heel to the toes. The plantar fascia supports the arch of the foot and acts like a spring during normal walking.

What Causes Plantar Fasciitis?

When there is too much load placed on the plantar fascia, such as an increase in exercise, walking on hard surfaces, poor footwear, abnormal biomechanics or an increase in body weight, then the plantar fascia can become painful. The pain is usually worst on the bottom of the heel and can be most severe with the first few steps in the morning or after spending a long time on your feet.

How Do Physios Treat Plantar Fasciitis?

Early treatment usually involves correcting the contributing factors by modifying load, improving the biomechanics of the foot and ankle, stretching tight muscles and improving the range of movement of the foot and ankle. We may also use soft tissue massage to improve the mobility of the calf muscles and plantar fascia, or dry needling of the plantar fascia.

Chronic Plantar Fasciitis and Shockwave Therapy

If the problem has been occurring for a long time, it can be particularly stubborn and difficult to treat. So as well as the above treatment, many physiotherapy clinics have recently started using extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) at the practice to help treat chronic plantar fasciitis. ESWT uses pressure waves to treat musculoskeletal conditions such as plantar fasciitis and tendinopathies. It is particularly useful when the condition is chronic.

Studies show that ESWT is safe and effective for reducing pain in chronic plantar fasciitis. Recent research comparing ESWT to corticosteroid injection for chronic plantar fasciitis found that ESWT had greater reduction in pain after 12 weeks compared to the corticosteroid injection group.

We have also been finding that patients are having a good response to treatment with ESWT. Pain relief is often immediate after the session.

Usually treatment involves 1 session per week of 2000-3000 pulses for 4 weeks.

Due to its immense potential, this procedure is often use for ankle and heel injuries. Acoustic pulses help get rid of unwanted calcium deposits which can cause soreness and other severe complications. Besides, they boost collagen production in the individual's body and, therefore, repair damaged ligaments.
