PRODUCT INFORMATION
Calcium formate is the calcium salt of formic acid. It is formed by the reaction of carbon monoxide and calcium hydroxide or formaldehyde with calcium compound contained in an aqueous solution. Calcium formate is used, among other things, as an aggregate for cementitious building materials, as an additive for processing oil emulsions.
Properties: Slightly hygroscopic, slightly bitter flavor. Neutral, non-toxic, soluble in water. Aqueous solution is neutral. The solubility of calcium formate does not change much with the increase of temperature, 16g/100g water at 0ºC, 18.4g/100g water at 100ºC.
Construction/ Industrial Grade Calcium Formate
Used in construction as cement rapid solidification agent, lubricants agent and early strength agent, for building mortar and a variety of concrete. It could speed up the hardening of cement, shorten the setting time. Especially in winter, use calcium formate could effectively avoid slow condensation because of the low temperature. As an early-strength agent, it makes cement stripping fast, gives the intensity of cement as soon as possible to put into use. The amount of calcium formate is gradually increased with the decrease of temperature, and even in the summer application of 0.3-0.5% of the amount, will play a significant early-strength effect.
Feed Grade Calcium Formate
As a new feed additives. Feeding calcium formate could weight the livestock and poultry, piglet feed additives with calcium formate, can promote piglet appetite and reduce diarrhea rate. In the first weeks after weaning, 1.5% calcium formate in the feed, piglets growth rate can be increased by more than 12%, feed conversion rate increased by 4%.
