Sorbitol, also known as sorbitol. It is a white hygroscopic powder or crystalline powder, flake or particle, odorless. It has a cool and sweet taste, with a sweetness of about half that of sucrose, and a calorific value similar to sucrose.
In the food industry, sorbitol solution with a content of 69-71% is commonly used. Sorbitol solution is a colorless, transparent, viscous liquid with a sweet taste. It is neutral to litmus and can be mixed with water, glycerol, and propylene glycol.
.

1. It can be used as a raw material for producing vitamin C, and sorbitol can be fermented and chemically synthesized to obtain vitamin C.
2. It can be used as a nutritional sweetener, wetting agent, chelating agent, and stabilizer.
3. It can be used for synthesizing resins and plastics, separating and analyzing low boiling point oxygen-containing compounds, and can also be used as gas chromatography stationary liquids, thickeners, hardeners, insecticides, etc.
4. Can be used as a moisture regulator for toothpaste, cosmetics, and tobacco.
5. It can be used as a diuretic and dehydrating agent to treat cerebral edema and increased intracranial pressure, treat elevated intraocular pressure in glaucoma, and also for edema and oliguria with normal cardiac and renal function.
6. It can be used as a water retaining agent for aquatic products, with a ratio of sucrose 2.1%, sorbitol 3.15%, and composite phosphate 1.00%, which can effectively reduce the water activity of dried fish fillets and improve Ca ATPase activity.
