The energy conversion process of a hydroelectric generator set is divided into two stages:
first, the potential energy lost by the water turbine is converted into mechanical energy, and then the mechanical energy of the water turbine is converted into electrical energy by the generator. The specific process is as follows: under the impact of water flow, the water turbine begins to rotate, converting the potential energy of water into mechanical energy;
The water turbine drives the coaxial connected generator to rotate. Under the action of excitation current, the rotating rotor drives the excitation magnetic field to rotate.
The stator winding of the generator cuts the excitation magnetic field line, generating induced electromotive force. While outputting electrical energy, an electromagnetic braking torque opposite to its rotation direction is generated on the rotor.
Due to the continuous action of water flow on the turbine, the rotational torque obtained by the turbine from the water flow is used to overcome the electromagnetic braking torque generated on the motor rotor.
When the td generwo torques reach balance, the hydroelectric generator set will operate at a constant speed, stably generate electricity, and achieve energy conversion. So the water turbine anator are the two most critical components in a hydroelectric generator set
