Description:
Introducing our Grade 301 stainless steel, a remarkable alloy that combines strength and ductility even in cold conditions. This austenitic chromium-nickel steel is a modified version of Type 304, designed to enhance its cold work-hardening range. By lowering the chromium and nickel contents, we've achieved higher tensile strengths while maintaining excellent ductility.
When annealed, this grade is essentially non-magnetic. However, when cold worked, it becomes slightly more magnetic than other standard austenitic stainless steels.
Application:
Our Grade 301 stainless steel finds its place in a wide range of applications. From aircraft structural parts and trailer bodies to diaphragms and utensils, this versatile alloy is a reliable choice. It is also commonly used in architectural and automotive trim, automobile wheel covers, roof drainage products, tableware, storm door frames, conveyor belts, sinks, and even subway cars.
Corrosion Resistanc:
Type 301 exhibits corrosion resistance comparable to Types 302 and 304 in most mild service conditions. Resistance to food service requirements and atmospheric corrosion is excellent. Stress cracking resistance is similar to Type 304. The optimal corrosion resistance is obtained in the cold worked then annealed condition. When Type 301 is heated or cooled slowly through a temperature range of 800 - 1600 °F (427 - 871 °C) without subsequent annealing, it may undergo carbide precipitation that may result in intergranular corrosion
