GASOLINE ENGINE
Engines are more commonly found in vehicles and machinery. An engine completes a power cycle in four strokes of the piston, which is equivalent to two rotations of the crankshaft. An engine has four main parts: the intake stroke, when the intake valve opens as the piston moves downward; the compression stroke, when the valve system closes and the piston moves upward, compressing the fuel and igniting it; the power stroke, when the explosion of the fuel pushes the piston downward; and the exhaust stroke, when the exhaust valve opens and the piston moves upward to expel the burned gases.
