Product Description
A ferroalloy consisting of molybdenum and iron, generally containing 50 ~ 60% molybdenum, used as an alloy additive in steelmaking. Ferro Molybdenum is an alloy of molybdenum and iron. Its main use is as an additive of molybdenum in steelmaking. The addition of molybdenum in the steel can make the steel have uniform fine grain structure, improve the hardenability of the steel and help to eliminate temper brittleness. In high speed steel, molybdenum can replace part of tungsten. Molybdenum is widely used with other alloying elements in the production of stainless steel, heat-resistant steel, acid-resistant steel and tool steel, as well as alloys with special physical properties. The addition of molybdenum to cast iron increases its strength and wear resistance.
The atomic weight of molybdenum is 95.94. The electronic structure of the outer layer is 4d5s, the melting point is 2615 ° C, the boiling point is 4610 ° C, and the density (20 ° C) is 10.2 g/cm. The binary phase diagram of molybdenum and iron is shown in Fig. 1. Molybdenum and iron form α and γ solid solutions and two intermetallic compounds ε (FE 7MO 6) and σ (FeMo) phases. FE-MO contains about 60% MO, its melting temperature is 1800 ~ 1900 ° C, and its density is about 9.0 g/cm. The effect of molybdenum in steel can be summarized as improving hardenability, improving heat strength, preventing temper brittleness, improving remanence and coercivity, and corrosion resistance in some media, and preventing pitting tendency. Due to various beneficial effects of molybdenum in steel, in a series of steel grades such as structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, tool steel, stainless acid-resistant steel, heat-resistant steel (also called heat-strength steel) , magnetic steel, etc. , has been widely used. Molybdenum is effective in improving the strength and toughness of cast iron, and pearlite matrix can be formed in medium and large section castings with 0.25% ~ 1.25% addition. Commonly used in rolls and other wear-resistant castings.
