In the late 1960s, it ranked second. Due to the abundant synthesis materials and low prices of PVC resin, the demand has increased rapidly and its position has gradually strengthened. The average polymerization degree of general-purpose PVC is 500~~150, and the average polymerization degree of high polymerization degree PVC is above 1700. The PVC resins we commonly use are universal.
The general performance of PVC board is that PVC resin is a white or light yellow powder with a relative density of 1.35-1.45. The softness and hardness of the product can be adjusted by the amount of plasticizer added. The water absorption and breathability of pure PVC are very low.
Mechanical properties: PVC has high hardness and mechanical properties. And it increases with the increase of molecular weight, but decreases with the increase of temperature. The mechanical properties of rigid PVC are good, and its elastic modulus can reach 1500-3000MPa. The elasticity of soft PVC is 1.5-15 MPa. But the elongation at break is as high as 200% -450%. The friction of PVC is generally good, with a static friction coefficient of 0.4-0.5 and a dynamic friction coefficient of 0.23.
Thermal properties: PVC has very poor heat stability, starting to decompose at 140 ºC and melting at 160 ºC. The coefficient of linear expansion of PVC is relatively small, and it has flame retardancy with an oxidation index of over 45.
Electrical properties: PVC is a polymer with good electrical properties, but due to its high polarity, its electrical insulation is not as good as PP and PE. The dielectric constant, dielectric loss tangent, and volume resistivity are relatively high, and the corona resistance is poor. It is generally suitable for medium and low voltage and low-frequency insulation materials.
Environmental performance: PVC can withstand most inorganic acids, alkalis, salts, and most organic solvents. Suitable for pharmaceutical and chemical anti-corrosion materials.
