3. Description
It is an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) used for the long-term control of asthma. It is delivered via a metered-dose inhaler (MDI) to reduce inflammation in the airways, helping prevent asthma attacks. It is not a rescue inhaler and should not be used for acute asthma symptoms.
4. Indications
- Maintenance treatment of asthma in adults and adolescents (≥12 years)
- Reduction of airway inflammation and prevention of asthma exacerbations
- Not for acute bronchospasm relief
5. Dosage and Administration
- Recommended Dose:
- Mild to moderate asthma: 100µg once daily
- Severe asthma: Up to 400µg daily (divided into two doses)
- Administration:
- Shake the inhaler well before use.
- Exhale fully before inhaling the medication.
- Inhale deeply while pressing the canister.
- Hold breath for a few seconds, then exhale slowly.
- Rinse mouth with water after each use to prevent oral thrush.
- Priming: If not used for >7 days, release one test spray before use.

- Hypersensitivity to Cicle sonide or any of its components
- Acute asthma attacks (should use a short-acting bronchodilator instead)

- Not for emergency use: Does not provide immediate relief from bronchospasms.
- Oral Candidiasis (Thrush): Rinse mouth after inhalation to avoid fungal infections.
- Immunosuppression: Avoid exposure to infections like chickenpox and measles.
- Adrenal Suppression: Long-term use of corticosteroids may affect adrenal function.
- Growth Suppression in Children: Regular monitoring of growth rate recommended.
