In the presenceof an alkaline medium and ferrocyanide, ammonia and ammo-nium ions in the water react with salicylate and hypochloriteions to produce a blue-colored compound, which exhibits max-imum absorbance at a specific wavelength, allowing for the de-termination of ammonia nitrogen content in water.
