An intermediate stopping station is a device used in pipelines to allow liquids to flow through while blocking the passage of pipeline pigs. It's especially useful when a pipeline has bypass lines connected to multiple storage tanks. When liquid needs to be transferred to any of these tanks, the stopper /stopping station prevents the air from entering the bypass lines during pigging. Unlike piggable ball valves, intermediate stopping stations provide a higher level of sanitation and prevent the contamination of products.

1.What is the function of an intermediate stopper?
An intermediate pig stopper allows liquids to pass through while preventing the pipeline pig from going ahead. It is typically installed when there is a bypass line on the main pipeline and a receiving tank below the bypass line, and the liquid needs to be recycled to the tank. The difference between an intermediate stopper and a piggable ball valve is that when a pipeline pig passes through a ball valve, and the gas behind the pig may enter the tank below through the piggable tee, affecting the product quality. Additionally, piggable ball valves are not as sanitary as intermediate stoppers.
2.What is the function of a pig receiver?The primary function of a pig launcher and receiver is to allow operators to launch and receive pipeline pigs. The pig receiver is designed to stop the pig before it reaches the product recovery destination and then drive it back to the launcher using a driving medium.
3.What is the difference between a pig launcher and a pig receiver?
While the pig launcher introduces the pig into the process line, the pivotal role of the pig receiver is to stop the pig and send it back again when it has reached its destination.
