How does infrared thermography work

Infrared thermography, also known as thermal imaging, works by detecting infrared radiation emitted by objects. All objects with a temperature above absolute zero (-273.15°C) emit infrared radiation. Infrared thermography cameras use a special lens to focus this radiation onto a detector array, which creates a thermal image of the object being measured.
The thermal image consists of many pixels, each of which represents a specific temperature value. The camera then processes the thermal image and displays it as a visible image on a screen. The colors on the screen represent different temperature ranges, with warmer temperatures appearing as red, orange, or yellow, and cooler temperatures appearing as blue or green.
Infrared thermography is often used in non-destructive testing to detect defects or anomalies in buildings, electrical systems, mechanical equipment, and other objects. It can also be used in medical applications, such as detecting breast cancer or monitoring body temperature.
