Description
Sorbitol is a polyhydric alcohol, which can be oxidized, lipidated, dehydrated, has good acid resistance and heat resistance, and is not prone to Maillard reaction.
Properties
Sorbitol is a white crystalline powder or colorless syrupy liquid, odorless, with a cool sweet taste.
Soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol and acetic acid, hardly soluble in organic solvents.
The sweetness is 0.5~0.7 times that of sucrose, and the calorific value is similar to that of sucrose.
Application
Used in food processing industries such as candy, biscuit, pastry, bread, chocolate, etc.
Used in toothpaste, cosmetics and other daily chemical industries.
Used in the pharmaceutical industry to produce vitamin C.
