Installation Requirements

Piping condition
The installation of the vortex flowmeter necessitates a certain straight pipe section both before and after the sensor. The common scenarios are as follows (D represents the diameter of the pipe):

The sensor should be mounted on a horizontal, vertical, or inclined pipe (with liquid flowing from bottom to top). The pipe should have the same diameter as the sensor. Ensure a straight pipe length of 15-20D upstream and 5-10D downstream to meet the installation criteria.
2.
The pipe adjacent to the liquid sensor should be completely filled with the liquid being measured.
3.
Avoid installing the sensor on pipes that experience strong mechanical vibrations.
4.
The inner diameter of the straight pipe section should match the sensor's diameter as closely as possible. If it is not feasible, use a pipe with a slightly larger diameter, ensuring an error of ≤3% and not exceeding 5mm. The sensor should not be placed in areas with strong electromagnetic interference, restricted space, or where maintenance is inconvenient. Installation requirements.
5.
Horizontal pipeline installation is the most prevalent for flow sensors. When measuring gas flow with minor liquid content, the sensor should be installed at a higher pipeline point. For liquid flow measurements with minor gas content, the sensor should be placed at a lower pipeline point.
6.
Vertical pipeline sensor installation: For gas flow measurements, the sensor can be mounted on a vertical pipe without flow direction constraints. If the gas contains minor liquid content, the flow should be from bottom to top. For liquid flow, the flow should also be from bottom to top to avoid excessive probe weight.
7.
Side installation on horizontal pipelines: Sensors can be side-mounted irrespective of the fluid type, especially for superheated steam, saturated steam, and low-temperature liquids. Side mounting is preferred when feasible to minimize temperature effects on the amplifier.
8.
Inverted sensor installation on horizontal pipelines is generally inadvisable. It is unsuitable for measuring general gases or superheated steam but can be used for saturated steam and high-temperature liquids. It is also suitable for pipelines requiring frequent cleaning.
9.
When installing sensors on pipelines with insulation layers, ensure that the insulation does not exceed one-third of the bracket height, especially when measuring high-temperature steam.
10.
Selecting pressure and temperature measurement points: Depending on the requirements, the pressure measurement point should be located 3-5D downstream of the sensor, and the temperature measurement point should be 6-8D downstream.
