Imidazole is a five-membered aromatic heterocyclic compound containing two intersite nitrogen atoms in the molecular structure. The unshared electron pairs of the 1-site nitrogen atoms in the imidazole ring participate in the ring conjugation, and the electron density of the nitrogen atom decreases, so that the hydrogen on the nitrogen atom is easy to leave in the form of hydrogen ion. Therefore, imidazole has weak acid and can form salt with strong bases.
