Fire Extinguisher Product Manual
Product Name: SafeGuard Multi-Purpose Fire Extinguisher
Purpose:
This SafeGuard Multi-Purpose Fire Extinguisher is designed to extinguish fires in a variety of common situations, including those involving solid combustibles (wood, paper, cloth), flammable liquids, and electrical equipment. It is an essential tool for home, office, and industrial safety.
Operating Instructions:
Assessment: Before using the extinguisher, make sure that the fire is small and contained. Do not attempt to extinguish a large or rapidly spreading fire. Evacuate the area if the fire is unsafe to approach.
Approach: Approach the fire from a safe distance, ensuring that there is a clear path for escape. Keep the extinguisher pointed away from your body and others.
Pull Pin: Pull the safety pin at the top of the extinguisher to unlock the nozzle.
Aim Low: Point the nozzle at the base of the fire. The fire's source of fuel is typically located at its base.
Squeeze Lever: Squeeze the operating lever to release the extinguishing agent. Sweep the nozzle from side to side, moving the extinguishing agent over the base of the fire.
Watch and Repeat: Continue to squeeze the lever and sweep the nozzle until the fire is extinguished. Watch the area carefully for any signs of re-ignition. Repeat the process if necessary.
Safety Precautions:
- Do not use the extinguisher on cooking oil or grease fires. Use a fire blanket or specialized extinguisher instead.
- Always keep the extinguisher pointed away from your body and others.
- Avoid inhaling the extinguishing agent or allowing it to come into contact with your skin or eyes.
- Ensure that the extinguisher is in its proper place and easily accessible at all times.
- Do not attempt to recharge or repair the extinguisher yourself. Contact a certified service center for inspection, repair, or recharging.
Maintenance and Inspection:
- Regularly inspect the extinguisher for any signs of damage or corrosion. Replace it if necessary.
- Check the pressure gauge to ensure that it is in the green zone, indicating that the extinguisher is properly pressurized.
- Ensure that the extinguisher is not expired. Check the expiration date on the label and replace it before it expires.
Storage:
- Store the extinguisher in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and heat.
- Keep the extinguisher in a readily accessible location, such as near an exit or on a wall mount.
