Installation Requirements

Piping condition
The installation of the vortex flowmeter demands a specific straight pipe section both upstream and downstream. Here are the general requirements (D represents the diameter of the pipe):

The sensor must be mounted on a pipe that is either horizontal, vertical, or inclined (flowing from bottom to top) and should match the sensor's diameter. Ensure a straight pipe length of 15-20D upstream and 5-10D downstream.
2.
The pipe near the liquid sensor should be completely filled with the liquid to be measured.
3.
Avoid installing the sensor on pipelines experiencing strong mechanical vibrations.
4.
Ensure the inner diameter of the straight pipe section closely matches the sensor's. If not identical, use a slightly larger pipe with an error margin of ≤3% and not exceeding 5mm. Avoid locations with strong electromagnetic interference, limited access, or inconvenient maintenance..
5.
Horizontal pipeline installation is most common. For gas flow with minor liquid content, position the sensor at a higher pipeline point. For liquid flow with minor gas content, place it at a lower point.
6.
For vertical pipelines, the sensor can be installed without flow direction restriction for gas flow. If the gas contains liquid, the flow must be from bottom to top. For liquid flow, it should be from bottom to top to prevent added probe weight.
7.
Sensors can be side-mounted on horizontal pipelines, particularly for superheated steam, saturated steam, and low-temperature liquids. Side mounting is preferred to minimize temperature impact on the amplifier.
8.
Inverted sensor installation on horizontal pipelines is generally discouraged. It's unsuitable for general gases or superheated steam but can measure saturated steam and high-temperature liquids, where frequent pipeline cleaning is necessary.
9.
For high-temperature steam measurements, the insulation layer should not exceed one-third of the bracket height when installing sensors on insulated pipelines.
10.
Select pressure and temperature measurement points appropriately. The pressure point should be 3-5D downstream of the sensor, and the temperature point 6-8D downstream, based on measurement requirements.
