Rebar (short for reinforcing bar), known when massed as reinforcing steel or reinforcement steel,is a steel bar used as a tension device in reinforced concrete and reinforced masonry structures to strengthen and aid the concrete under tension. Concrete is strong under compression, but has low tensile strength. Rebar significantly increases the tensile strength of the structure. The most common type of rebar is carbon steel, typically consisting of hot-rolled round bars with deformation patterns embossed into its surface. Steel and concrete have similar coefficients of thermal expansion,so a concrete structural member reinforced with steel will experience minimal differential stress as the temperature changes.

Production Process

 

Production process of hot rolled steel bars:
Step 1: Preparation of the square billet. The manufacture of rebar begins with a block of square billets of uniform specifications. These billets are subjected to a sophisticated production process that ensures their quality and dimensional consistency.
Step 2: The billet enters the heating furnace along with the steel columns. The addition of steel columns helps to balance the temperature distribution in the furnace, thus improving the heat uniformity of square billets and providing better plasticity conditions for the subsequent rolling process.
Step 3: Precision rolling in the hot rolling shop. The heated square billet enters the hot rolling shop, and the billet is gradually thinned in the rolling mill through multiple processes of roughing and middle rolling. Through the finishing rolling process, the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the steel bars are further improved.
Step 4: Extrusion and thread formation. The temperature of the rebar is reduced by means of a water-cooling device. During this process, the bars are extruded through grooves in the rolls and a unique thread pattern is formed on the rolls.
Step 5: Crystal remoulding in the cold bed. The cooled rebar enters the cold bed. In the cold bed, the steel bars are slowly cooled and transferred to the next process one by one. This process rearranges the crystal structure of the steel, giving the bar superior mechanical properties and toughness.
Step 6: Cold shear for precise cutting and counting. The cooled reinforcement bars are accurately positioned and cut through a high-precision, high-efficiency cold shear. The cold shear ensures that the cut-off size of the bars meets the specification requirements and that the number of bars in each group is consistent.
Step 7: Neatly bundled for perfect delivery. After cutting and counting, the finished rebar enters the bundling machine through the guide plate.
