Product Description
SKT4/W-Nr 1.2713 hot work tool steel
SKT4 is a type of hot work tool steel known for its high heat resistance, excellent toughness, and good wear resistance. It belongs to the JIS G4404 standard and is commonly used in applications requiring high-temperature stability, such as forging dies, extrusion dies, and hot stamping dies.

Chemical Composition (Typical):
C(%)Si(%)Mn(%)P(%)S(%)Cr(%)Mo (%) V(%)
0.50-0.600.10-0.400.15-0.350.300.200.80-1.200.35-0.550.05-0.15

Properties:
High Heat Resistance: SKT4 exhibits excellent heat resistance, retaining its mechanical properties at elevated temperatures, making it suitable for prolonged use in high-temperature applications.
Good Toughness: Proper heat treatment results in a balanced combination of hardness and toughness, allowing SKT4 to withstand impact loading without fracturing.
Excellent Wear Resistance: The alloy composition provides good wear resistance, ensuring prolonged tool life in abrasive working environments.
High Hardenability: SKT4 steel has high hardenability, allowing for uniform hardness distribution throughout large tooling components.

Heat Treatment:
Annealing: Heat to 800-850°C, then furnace cool at a rate of 10-20°C per hour to below 600°C for stress relief.
Hardening: Preheat to 500-700°C, then raise the temperature to 950-1050°C for austenitizing, followed by oil or air quenching.
Tempering: Temper immediately after hardening at 500-600°C for desired hardness and toughness.

Surface Treatment:
SKT4 steel can be nitrided, coated with hard chrome plating, or subjected to various surface treatments to enhance wear resistance and surface hardness.

Applications:
Forging dies: used in hot forging processes for manufacturing automotive components, machine parts, and structural components.
Extrusion dies: for processing aluminum, brass, and other non-ferrous metals.
Hot stamping dies: for forming and shaping sheet metal components in automotive and aerospace industries.

Quality Assurance:
SKT4 tool steel is produced under strict quality control measures, ensuring consistent mechanical properties and dimensional accuracy.

Environmental Considerations:
Manufacturers adhere to environmental regulations and implement sustainable practices in the production of SKT4 steel to minimize environmental impact.

End-of-Life Recycling:
Tools made from SKT4 steel can be recycled at the end of their service life, promoting resource conservation and sustainability.
