H11 Tool Steel is a
premium, deep-hardening, air-hardening steel known for its exceptional thermal stability. It undergoes minimal dimensional changes during heat treatment. With lower vanadium content compared to the widely-used H13 tool steel, H11 boasts excellent toughness and outstanding thermal strength. It also offers impressive thermal fatigue resistance and moderate wear resistance at medium temperatures. Thanks to its air-quenching property at low austenitizing temperatures, H11 experiences minimal deformation and reduced iron oxide formation. Moreover, it can withstand erosion from molten aluminum.

7. Applications of H11 Tool Steel
H11 tool steel is ideal for hot tooling applications demanding maximum crack resistance. These include hot punches, die casting dies, forging dies, hot shear blades, hot gripper dies, and extrusion tooling. Chromium hot-work steels like H11 can be water-cooled without damage, thanks to their low carbon and alloy contents. Additionally, H11's medium thermal strength makes it suitable for structural components in aircraft and rockets, operating at temperatures between 752~932°F(400~500°C).
