Oil Extraction Unit

There are two main methods of oil extraction in avocado oil processing: cold pressing and expeller pressing. The components vary depending on the method used:

• Cold Pressing Unit: For cold-pressed avocado oil, the pulp is mechanically pressed at low temperatures. The components involved in this method are:
  • Hydraulic Press or Screw Press: This machine uses mechanical force to extract the oil from the avocado paste. A hydraulic press uses pressure, while a screw press uses a rotating screw to compress the paste and release the oil. Both machines are typically made of stainless steel to ensure hygiene and longevity.
  • Press Cake Collection Bin: After oil is extracted, the remaining solid material (known as the press cake) is collected for disposal or further processing (e.g., for animal feed or cosmetics).
• Expeller Pressing: If the machine uses expeller pressing, it incorporates an expeller (a mechanical screw press) that applies heat and pressure to the paste to extract oil. Expeller presses are often used for larger-scale commercial operations.
