X40CrSiMo10-2 is a martensitic stainless steel that is primarily used for manufacturing exhaust valves and other high-temperature components in internal combustion engines. It is known for its excellent high-temperature strength, oxidation resistance, and wear resistance.

Heat Treatment
- Annealing: Typically involves heating to a temperature range of 850°C - 870°C, followed by slow cooling to achieve a soft and ductile microstructure.
- Quenching: Heating to a temperature of 1050°C, holding for a period, and then air cooling.
- Tempering: After quenching, tempering at 600°C to achieve the desired hardness and toughness.
- Normalizing: Heating to a temperature of 850°C - 870°C, followed by air cooling.
- Quenching and Tempering (Q&T): Quenching followed by tempering to achieve a combination of high strength and toughness.

X40CrSiMo10-2 steel is widely used in the automotive and industrial sectors for components that require high strength and good wear resistance at elevated temperatures. It is particularly suitable for:
