Sodium Hypochlorite Generator Introduction
Sodium Hypochlorite Generator series NaClO Generator is the new equipment developed for on-site NaClO solution production; it applies to many applications involving NaClO disinfection. The operation principle is as below: When a specific voltage is applied to the electrolyzing-tube containing NaCl solution, a series of electrolytic reactions occur and finally sodium hypochlorite solution is generated.

Sodium Hypochlorite Generator Working Process
The basic principle of electrolytic reaction of membrane electrolysis cell is to convert electric energy into chemical energy and electrolyze brine to produce NaOH, Cl2 and H2 as shown in the above picture. In the anode chamber of the cell (on the right side of the picture), the brine is ionized into Na+ and Cl- in the cell, wherein Na+ migrates to the cathode chamber (left side of the picture) through a selective ionic membrane under the action of charge. The lower Cl- generates chlorine gas under anodic electrolysis. The H2O ionization in the cathode chamber becomes H+ and OH-, wherein OH- is blocked by a selective cation membrane in the cathode chamber and Na+ from the anode chamber is combined to form product NaOH, and H+ generates hydrogen under cathodic electrolysis.


The overall reaction equations are as follows:
NaCl + H2O → NaClO + H2
NaCl + H2O → NaClO + H2
Electrode reaction: Anode: 2Cl-2e- → Cl2
Cathode: 2H + 2e- → H2
Solution reaction: 2NaOH + Cl2 →NaCl+NaClO+H2O

Cathode: 2H + 2e- → H2
Solution reaction: 2NaOH + Cl2 →NaCl+NaClO+H2O

Salt water is electrolyzed through direct current through the cathode and anode, generating chlorine on the anode surface and sodium hydroxide and hydrogen gas on the cathode surface. Subsequently, the reaction generates sodium hypochlorite.
